PLANNING A Micro Wedding

PLANNING A MICRO WEDDING

As always when it comes to planning  a wedding, everything is optional, and aside from the ceremony itself, couples can include as few or as many wedding day components in their micro wedding as they wish.

For example, the couple might hire a photographer while they share a First Look and then exchange personalized vows in their own home. Then after saying "I Do," they can cut into a mini version of their wedding cake, pop some champagne, and share a first dance as a married couple by the fireplace.

THE VENUE

There's no reason why couples cannot transform their living room, backyard, or a nearby park into the perfect ceremony spot. It's amazing what a few assorted candles, flowers, and some garden lights in the yard can do to create a romantic setting.

THE GUEST LIST

Because the micro wedding is all about the ceremony and the couple, guests are entirely optional. Many micro weddings only have a handful of guests (typically immediate family) just two witnesses, and the officiant and photographer if desired.

If couples wish to have guests physically present at this time, the amount is usually small similar to a social gathering and the ceremony can be livestreamed so that loved ones can witness the occasion  from their homes and share a toast online with the couple.

THE ATTIRE

If this is the only chance the couple will get to wear their wedding finery they should go for it! Couples should feel free to dress up or dress down, however they like. If a large-scale sequel wedding is planned for a later date and they want to keep their outfits a surprise, they can just opt for a different look entirely for this event, and have fun creating their own micro wedding ensemble.

THE FIRST LOOK

Who says you can't have a First Look.

If the ceremony is in a park, show up separately in secluded areas so the photog can catch you on your own, and then snap you seeing each other for the first time in your micro wedding duds.

Alternately, if the ceremony is taking place at home, get ready in different rooms, and when ready, come out to meet each other.

THE OFFICIANT AND THE CEREMONY

With such an intimate setting, it is imperative that the couple and the officiant work together closely to ensure that the couples vision is crafted into the perfect and unique ceremony made for them.

Couples might need a bit of guidance when it comes to their vows, planning sessions are now made through zoom.

THE CELEBRATION MEAL

Couples can set and decorate a sweetheart table, and order a special "Just for 2" version of their wedding day menu from their caterer to enjoy after the ceremony.

The same holds true for the wedding cake.

THE FIRST DANCE

Whether it's in the middle of the living room or under a gazebo at a nearby park, couples should still hold each other tight, and share their first dance as a married couple.!

THE MEMORIES

...and of course, the couple should have the services of a photographer. As long as they maintain a safe distance, photographers can capture the micro wedding in all its glory, take portraits, and document the celebration meal, cake cutting, and first dance. Couples will treasure the photos for years and be able to share some of the special moments and details from their micro wedding with others if they wish.
